"To support traditional Native culture and values; to give Native People
the tools to become contributing members of their communities;
and to improve educational opportunities and resources for
American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians."
                      Ya-Ka-Ama Media Classes
In 1974, Ya-Ka-Ama received a grant from Sonoma County Revenue Sharing funds for the purpose of
documenting the cultural activities of members from the local Native American Community, and creating
a media library of the archived materials.  From 1974 through 2019, we have recorded numerous activities and
events featuring a variety of topics including; basketweaving, traditional dancing/ singing, grass games, native
plants, oral histories, sports, storytelling, youth events and more. We have also recently began digitizing the
collection of photographs and videotapes in our archives and have many DVDs now available for public viewing.
